Notre Dame de Nareg Armenian Catholic Church, as a congregation, was officially established and recognized in 1966. At this time the church served about 100 families in the Montreal area, but did not have a permanent priest, nor a building of their own. The congregation would instead use a local Catholic church (St. Antoine) and was served by a visiting priest from the United States. In 1983 the church constructed Notre Dame de Nareg, which has been serving the community since. Additionally, the church also runs a full-time school (Ecole Notre Dame de Nareg), which serves pre-school to 6th grade pupils.
