Sourp Hagop Armenian Apostolic church (Prelacy) was the first church in Canada to be organized under the jurisdication of the Prelacy in 1958. In these early years the church purchased an existing church and renamed it to Sourp Hagop. But as time passed and the Armenian community grew, the need for a larger church became more evident. In 1974 the existing church of Sourp Hagop was built and consecrated. Today it houses a community center and the Sourp Hagop Elementery School.
