Formed as an organization in the early 1950s, the Armenian Apostolic Church (Diocesan) of New South Wales was consecrated in 1957. During these early years, services were held in a small church in Surry Hills. In 1966 the church moved to a larger building, which is still in use today. In 1982 the church formed the Armenian Community Welfare Center, which serves as both a respite care and day care center for the eldery, as well as an information and referral source for all members of the Armenian community.
